Two Arashi One-shots
Title: Conciousness is overrated
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Jun/Sho
Summary: Jun knows that he's struggling trying to live life without Sho, he's making no secret of that.
Notes: Un-beta'd, so I apologize for any and all mistakes.
Jun's apartment doesn't look any different. It still appears to be a very much lived in home. The home of two young lovers with years ahead of them. That is of course, far from being the case. Despite not seeming any different physically, there is a distinct coldness to the apartment now. Not only is it missing the heat of two bodies, but the warmth that laughter and happiness bring is gone. The house seems smaller and darker, even though it actually isn't.
To Jun it isn't a home any more. It isn't a space to be enjoyed or to feel comfortable in. It's merely a roof over his head. Somewhere to come back to instead of ending up out on the street. Even though it was Jun's home way before he ever considered it Sho's as well, as far as Jun is concerned there wasn't life before Sho. And now he's gone, life has become almost unbearable.
Jun doesn't dare touch any of Sho's things left around the house. The open book on the arm of the sofa stays there, as if the owner will eventually come back to continue reading it again. Newspapers scattered on the coffee table, research for News Zero, now months out of date. He carefully lives his life around them. Making sure not to brush against the sofa so the book doesn't tumble to the floor. Jun knows it's irrational. He knows Sho isn't coming back. But he just can't bring himself to touch anything. The last person to touch those things was Sho himself, so there's still a little piece of him left there. Unmarred and alive.
A few days after the news, he put one of Sho's shirts over the pillow on his bed, aching to fill his senses up with nothing but Sho to get him through the nights. But his scent is barely there anymore. It's beginning to smell just like the shampoo Jun uses and the cologne he frequently wears. But Jun can't bring himself to take it off. Even though it might not smell like Sho any more, it still feels like him. Still feels like the same fabric he would grasp at when his body was reduced to a quivering mess and his face was on fire. Still the same fabric he would fill under his chin as he leant on Sho's shoulder during a photoshoot. Jun has to pretend that the fabric is still separating him from Sho's skin.
The first few seconds after waking up are Jun's favourite part of the day. In those few seconds, he forgets about the last couple of months. In those few seconds of blissful ignorance, everything is right. But then it all hits him like a bucket of ice cold water and he finds himself clawing at the sheets, trying to catch his breath as an indescribable pain washes through his body. Choking out strangled sobs through a closed up throat. He always fleetingly thinks he's going to die, yet the thought doesn't bother him as much as it should. He manages to calm himself down eventually, after all, he doesn't really want to die from a broken heart.
He hasn't cut himself off from the other guys. He doesn't want to isolate himself from the only people who understood the intensity of his and Sho's relationship. If he lost them and the warmth they bring to his heart as well, he may as well not exist. After all, they're hurting too. He just wishes he had the energy to do something for them. So he wordlessly lets them into his and Sho's home whenever they turn up on the door step. All with their own keys, but always choosing to knock instead.
Nothing much is said when the others come round. Words seem so futile and petty, considering the amount of pain Jun is in. Words die on the tips of their tongues as they realise even they don't believe what they're about to say. All they can do is be there for each other, creating a cocoon around themselves so one day they can finally emerge with the passion and zest for life that they all once had.
Nino sits down close to Jun and they watch TV silently. Keeping each other warm with a blanket wrapped around both their shoulders. Sitting in the dark until the early hours of the morning. Neither one wanting to sleep because they know tomorrow will just be the same. Each day seems like a hundred hours long, each second a struggle. Who would want to wake up to that?
Aiba brings shopping and sorts out Jun's kitchen. Making sure everything is ok in the house and that Jun is taking care of himself, even though he knows he is. Jun wouldn't be reduced to that state, despite the circumstances. All the while mumbling almost inaudibly about whatever is on his mind. Jun doesn't like how he's got used to Aiba being so quiet, but he never tells him. The Aiba in front of him now, who's keeping himself busy with mundane and normal things, has thoughts a million miles away from those of an idol. He doesn't even consider himself one anymore.
Ohno informs him of work details and news, as Jun's taken to not answering the phone. It's not that he doesn't want to talk to anyone, he just doesn't have any interest in what the majority of people have to say anymore. Everything is so damn trivial now.
Work obviously isn't in abundance though. Whilst Arashi is actually on hiatus, you can never really escape Johnny's Entertainment after being one of it's most successful bands for 10 years. There is so much more to it then dancing and singing. Mountains of paperwork and legal stuff that Jun just doesn't even want to think about, but that needs to be sorted. They're not expected to resume activities as Arashi any time soon, if ever. But they've already decided to start taking small baby steps and no one is rushing them.
It's Ohno that makes Jun forget sometimes. When he talks about what some of the younger bands are up to. Yamapi's upcoming drama, KAT-TUN's new single and Kanjani8's latest tour. Jun can almost imagine that nothing has changed.
But then he looks into Ohno's eyes. Devoid of any real enthusiasm or passion as he talks. His face looking thinner than ever which seems so disgusting on the usually chubby cheeked man. The sparkle from within that makes his face glow, that is so distinctly Ohno, very nearly extinguished.
He doesn't think that he's hurting any more then Nino, Aiba or Ohno are just because of what he and Sho had. It's just sometimes he forgets and immediately hates himself for being so selfish. Hates himself for not going round to Nino's and comforting him, for not telling Aiba that his silence is slowly breaking what's left of his heart, for not helping Ohno with the million and one things he has to sort out on his own.
Jun never thought he could be so weak when there are still people he cares about around him in agony. He can only pray that they will wait for him because there is literally nothing he can do right now other then just exist.
Title: Domestic
Rating: PG
Pairing: Nino/Ohno
Summary: Domesticity doesn't really suit them, but that doesn't stop Ohno from having a go.
Notes: Again, un-beta'd I'm afraid.
Nino is in the midst of a wonderful dream, involving Jun dressed as a maid waiting on him hand and foot, when he is rudely woken by a prod in his cheek and a flick to his temple. Groaning, he blindly reaches out a hand, skimming for the warm body that's usually squished up against his side. Meeting only cold, bunched up fabric he cracks open an eye to see he is lying alone in bed. Flopping over onto his back he notices Ohno standing over him with a tray and white powder clinging to his nose and cheeks, grinning like a maniac. Nino just moans into the pillow, maybe he's going to kill him. That's fine, right now he's too tired to care.
“What have you been doing?” He ventures once it becomes apparent Ohno isn't going to move until he says or does something.
“Making you breakfast in bed, come on sit up.” Nino grudgingly pulls himself up into a sitting position, putting a pillow behind his back.
“Pancakes.” Ohno proudly states as he places the tray on Nino's lap.
“I'm not going to die am I?” Nino picks up a fork and nudges the food.
“So mean,” Ohno smiles as he makes his way back round to his side of the bed and climbs in, “I thought I'd have a go at being the perfect, loving partner.”
Nino snorts, “Really, I'm flattered you're prepared to become my cute little house wife, but I'm perfectly happy with my hot boyfriend who forgets to even make himself breakfast most of the time.”
Ohno makes a noise in the back of his throat in protest, as he watches Nino shovel food into his mouth through lidded eyes.
“You been reading women's magazines or something?” Nino mumbles around his food.
“Oh come on, you could at least appreciate the fact I got up at 5 am to make pancakes for you.”
“5 am?” Nino swallows his mouth full and barks out a laugh, which makes Ohno look down and scrunch up his face cutely.
“Hey,” He plays with the bed cover, “I've never made them before.”
Nino leans close to Ohno's face, smirking.
“I can tell. Did you try and add yourself to the mixture or something?” Nino wipes his thumb across one of Ohno's cheeks, sweeping away the white powder.
Ohno looks at Nino's thumb as he holds it up infront of his face, before breaking out into a mischievous grin of his own.
“Well you usually don't seem to mind how I taste.” Nino hums in agreement as Ohno brings their faces together, pressing his lips firmly against Nino's. Ohno can taste the eggy pancakes and the tang of blueberry jam on Nino's tongue as he opens his mouth wider.
When he draws back he makes a show of licking his lips and widens his eyes, “They actually don't taste too bad. I surprise myself.”
Nino laughs fondly, “Yeah, you actually made something edible.” He curls his fingers into the short wisps of hair at the back of Ohno's neck, “Though honestly? I miss my burnt toast and quick fumble in the kitchen.”
“Duly noted.” Ohno yawns loudly, brushes Nino's hand off him and shuffles back under the bed cover. Knocking into Nino's side clumsily as he flails his limbs about, making the glass of juice next to the plate on the tray wobble, “I'm going back to sleep now.”
“What?” Nino stares incredulously at the lump beside him, “I suppose you've left me with the cleaning up. Typical.”
If it was anyone else, he probably would of cared.

Anyway, lol, I like the fact that the first fic isn't exactly THAT full of angst, as Jun still realizes that the others are suffering the same thing as he is. *pets*

Thank you for reading :D I'm glad it didn't come across as over the top and melodramatic as that isn't what I wanted to show. I imagined them all to be in so much pain, but recognisable characters. Thank you again, especially for the lovely comment <3

If I ever wanted to imagine something like that would happen. It's how I would see it. For any of them, losing one would be...
Yeah. So... you did an amazing job.
And the second, defintely needed the warm and fuzzies!

Haha, yes. It balances it out XD

anyway.
that piece of domesticity is so cute! especially how the normally no-nonsense nino just accepts what ohno does just because it's ohno.

Anyway, thank you again for reading <333

gaaaaaawd...that was so heartbreaking. you write emo/angst sooooo well. i love really well written angst where you feel like you're just drowning in it, and this is definitely it. especially the last line about hoping they can wait for him *quibbles more*
i really hope that you add to this in the future. not that i like to cry, but man, adding to this storyline would be pure awesome.

Thank you very much. I know the subject isn't very nice, but it's incredibly interesting to explore. I honestly didn't think I did it that well though as, fortunately, I haven't lost anyone close to me. But I'm glad you enjoyed it, despite the subject ;D
